A virtual receptionist is nowadays a common phenomenon in almost all business organizations. A virtual receptionist should not be viewed as a substitute but as a complementary thing.

Virtual Receptionist - a substitute to an answering machine

Business owners who work from home and do not rent any office for sure do not hire receptionists. Thus they will need a business answering service or such to handle incoming business phone calls. Without this service, a business will not be able to run smoothly and efficiently which will in turn result in loss of profits.

Communicating with existing or potential customers is a very important part of all businesses. It is also important that customers could speak to real people when they call to make any enquiry. From personal experience, I am sure many customers, clients, or associates would feel irritated and unsatisfied when their calls are only being attended by an answering machine. This unsatisfactory feelings would only bring disadvantage to the business.

Hiring a virtual receptionist will be able to avoid this kind of disadvantage. A virtual receptionist can take messages, take orders, and give customers, clients, and business associates information about the availability of the party to whom they are trying to get hold of. A virtual receptionist would make the callers feel secured that their messages would be passed to the desired party safely.
